Hargest students are fortunate to be the recipients of a significant rebuilding programme that the school has undertaken over the last few years. The Junior Campus, with a stunning new Technology block, recently completed Hall/Gymnasium complex and remodelled Library provides a state of the art educational facility.
Technology has been embraced at Hargest across all areas of the school. Classrooms are rich in educational technology with students having ready access to interactive information systems.
In the past three years our staff have undergone extensive training in using information technology to deliver the curriculum. A comprehensive teacher based computer mentoring structure is in place and every staff member is using a laptop for record keeping and informing their teaching practice.
Students can safely access learning resources through extensive computer suites throughout both campuses and from their own homes.
Both libraries are electronic information centres with computers an essential part of literacy learning.
Parents have access, through the interactive website, to up-to-date information about student progress, attendance and pastoral systems. They can view the latest publications and celebrate the successes of our students.
All students take part in camps that encourage environmental awareness.
An extensive outdoor educational programme fosters an appreciation of Southland's rich natural heritage. |
