Junior Health Education:
In Years 9 and 10, Health Education is compulsory as part of the module system. All students receive 2 hours a week for one Term of Health Education.
In Year 9, the course content includes: hauora, getting to know myself, decision making, parent-teenager relationships, support networks, communication, pressure in relationships and sexuality education (body image, my body, pubertal change, making decisions & consequences).
In Year 10, the course content includes: hauora, drug education (smoking and alcohol), decision making, sexuality education (review pubertal change, body image, relationships, pressure in relationships, contraception and STI's).
Year 11 Health Education:

Year 12 Health Education:
This course extends work covered as part of NCEA Level 1. It offers a mix of achievement and unit standards rowards NCEA Level 2.
Course content includes: social determinants of health, mental health, gender and identity, adolescent health issues, taking action, and health promotion. |
