Previous Page | Next Page Year 7 and 8 Choir and Orchestra: The choir and orchestra practice regularly and perform within the school and the wider community.
School production: The annual production provides and excellent chance for talented singers, actors and dancers to display their talents on stage. Kapa Haka: The Kapa Haka group learn actions, waiata and haka and perform in the community and at official school ceremonies. Extra-curricular Sports Programme: The college enters teams in local competitions in netball, basketball, rugby, hockey, table tennis, badminton, ten pin bowling, athletics, gymnastics, aerobics, underwater hockey, waterpolo, orienteering, etc.
Interschool Sports Exchanges: Annual sports exchange with Oamaru Intermediate and Wakatipu High School. Annual South Island Intermediate Schools' tournament.
Interclass Sports Competitions: Classes compete against each other in the lunchtime interclass competition in sports such as netball, dodgeball and volleyball.
Outdoor Pursuits: Ski trips, a weekend trip to Stewart Island and kayaking courses are organised by the school. International Exchange-Citizens of the World: Our students have a unique opportunity to represent the college, Southland and New Zealand by being selected for the Citizens of the World International Exchange with Meeker middle School of Tacoma, USA. We host American visitors early in the year and out selected "ambassadors" travel to Tacoma in September-October. Kids Lit: Students compete locally and nationally in this literacy competition. Camps: All students are involved in camps at the beginning of the school year in a wide range of outdoor activities. Sport and Recreation: Students are involved in Friday afternoon sport and recreation options. Southspell: An annual event where students compete against Southland schools. BP Challenge: Year 7 science students team up for the BP Challenge. |
