The Hokonui u18 Marching team competed at the New Zealand Marching Championships in Hamilton in the weekend - with over half of the team attending JHC. Heading into the competition as defending champions meant all eyes were on them, and deservedly so, as they achieved their goal and went Back to Back, again winning the title of New Zealand Champion u18 team! The dedication and commitment and hours of training these girls did made this massive achievement possible. Ella King and Amelia-Jayne de Thierry-Curry from the Blue Jay u18 Marching Team also competed and they were awarded 3rd Technical in the Plate grade, achieving their goals of being placed at Nationals, an awesome effort!Several other JHC students competed at this event, including Paige King - a senior member of the Southern Stars Senior team. Well done on all the hard mahi our JHC marchers! ... See MoreSee Less
And the Hēmi Hākena 2024 Major Production is....Into the Woods! The story follows a Baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's Festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the Baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a Witch's curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results. One of Sondheim's most popular works, Into the Woods is a musically sophisticated show with the opportunity to feature actors adept at dark comedy. The musical was also made into a movie in 2014.We cannot wait to see everyone present their auditions next week 🤩🎭🎵Any students who missed the on stage cast auditions meeting today can get an audition pack by emailing Mrs Jarman: ejarman@jameshargest.school.nz ... Brigadier James Hargest

We keep faith | Ka whakapono tonu atu mātou

Brigadier James Hargest was a local and national hero and an inspiration to all those who come to our school. Brigadier James Hargest gave his life in WWII and is buried in Normandy, hence the school’s use of the Normandy Lion, our “Leo.”

Like him, we have a strong set of values that every student is encouraged to aspire to.
