For their research task into the production of a significant NZ primary product, students from Level 3 Agriculture and Horticulture visited the Alliance Processing Plant in Mataura and a beef farm near Wyndham recently.

At the Alliance plant students viewed the processing of beef and heard about on farm factors that affect beef production as well as marketing and food safety aspects of the product.

Later in the day the class enjoyed being out in the fresh air on a beef farm near Wyndham. They were able to discuss the production of Hereford Prime, which is meat with a very high eating quality, and breeding of productive cattle that suit the local climate.
