CAIMS Tournament Christchurch

CAIMS Tournament Christchurch

Thirty-six Year 7 & 8 students participated in badminton, hockey, netball and volleyball attended the Canterbury Intermediate and Middle Schools Invitation (CAIMS) tournament in Christchurch from 15 - 17 September. The majority of students made the long bus trip to and from Christchurch and were billeted by our wonderful friends from Cobham Intermediate School in Christchurch.
Our teams faced fierce competition over all sports throughout the tournament. The students were wonderful ambassadors for our school and Southland, achieving our most successful CAIMS tournament results ever, with all teams placing in the top three!
Badminton: 1st
Netball: 1st
It was great for the students to see that even though they are from a small city at the bottom of the country, that we can still mix it with the best from the big smoke! Along with the super sporting success, it was great to see the students sharing positive experiences with their peers, embracing the billeting experience and making new friends. The staff and supporters were incredibly proud of our students. Thanks to all the supporters who made the trip up and all the staff for their mahi (especially Waine the bus driver).
Special thanks to the following businesses who supported our tournament fundraising efforts: Bowmont Meats, DT Kings, Miele Apiaries, Morrifield Greenhouses, and The Headache Clinic.
