Congratulations Mr Elder

Congratulations Mr Elder

Congratulations to Mr Stuart Elder for his uninterrupted service of 40 years at James Hargest! Mr Elder, who is the head timetabler on the Senior Campus, is highly regarded as the designer of many tailor-made software programmes which help teachers at the school access data much more efficiently than commercially available products. He is a maths and computing teacher, and has been on the forefront of computer use in education ever since computers were first invented! His particular skill is the calm, pleasant and professional manner in which he solves complex organisational, data and staffing problems in a way that (like many experts) he makes look easy but which are not. He maintains a close interest in the International programme, in cricket and table tennis, and for many years was involved in outdoor education and assisting with major productions. His own children have all come though the school, and now one of his grandchildren is here! Mr Elder’s loyalty to Hargest and commitment to smooth, high quality systems and organisation have gained him huge respect from the staff.
