Des Hunt visits James Hargest College

36 Year 7 to 11 James Hargest students joined New Zealand author Des Hunt for a writing session “Writing for Readers” on Monday. Mr Hunt looked at how to write for readers, not just for yourself or your teacher. The session included what is involved in the process of writing, knowing how to plan and end writing, how to ‘hook’ and hold the reader, the elements of a piece of writing and some specific work on writing dialogue. He illustrated his ideas with samples of writing from his own books. Students also read samples of their writing for him, and Mr Hunt offered to give feedback on writing the young authors sent him.
