International Youth Silent Film Festival

The International Youth Silent Film Festival recently held the New Zealand finals, with Kiarne Heydenrych (left) and Matthew Butler (right) (Year 13)  gaining third equal in the competition. Kiarne and Matthew had to create a short silent film based around a piece of un-edited music, resulting in their sci-fi film “Stop The Clock”. Their win has earned them entry into the International Awards, held in Oregon, USA in June 2017. Viv Quinn, Project Co-ordinator of the NZ finals, said “There were 40 films entered into this competition. For the first year NZ has been part of the IYSFF, and so it was a big deal for the boys to get into the Top Ten and a much bigger deal to be named as one of the place-getters. We really felt they show so much promise as film-makers.”
