Skiing to success

Skiing to success

Elizabeth is now in the FIS open category which means she no longer races in age groups but against the best in the world. FIS records athletes performance buy calculated points for each official race the athlete completes in each discipline. Athletes FIS points are the average of the best two results over a twelve month period in each discipline. The best in the world has zero FIS points, athletes start with 990 FIS points when they enter FIS.

Elizabeth has today now completed two days of Giant Slalom (GS) races at Coronet Peak. Yesterday - Sundays GS race was the New Zealand Nationals, there were 13 nations completing. Elizabeth finished 3rd NZL and 13th overall with 75 FIS Points. Today’s Coronet Cup GS race saw Elizabeth Finish 2nd NZL and 13th again overall with 80 FIS points, giving her 78 GS FIS points for the two results.

This is a consistent and very pleasing GS result for Elizabeth especially as a first year FIS athlete.
