Computer Aided Drawing

Year 13

This subject provides students with an opportunity to become competent users of CAD software and develop confidence in the use of computers. Students applying for courses where CAD is used could be at an advantage for course acceptance and in the subsequent course work.

The primary aim of the course is to upskill students into becoming productive CAD operators. The secondary aim is to improve student computer literacy. As part of this course, students have the opportunity to achieve Unit Standard 19355 Produce Scale Production Drawings. CAD is taught using AutoCAD 2006, Revit Building 8 and Inventor Professional 10. The course is made up of three student tasks. Each task uses one of the three CAD programs. Students start learning with introductory exercises progressing through to the student task.
