The current topic for senior French has been ‘la gastronomie’ and we have been learning about dishes and specialities in the different regions in France. It is amazing to see the diversity amongst them and to also see how traditions are important and continue to be instilled nowadays. Although there can be complexities to dishes, there is also simplicity.
In class, we have made two patisseries and one savoury dish – millefeuille, madeleines and raclette.
All students really enjoyed the raclette (pictured above) because of the choices of vegetables and cheeses and how the cheese melted in individual pans. The madeleines (right) also tasted delicious and the ‘bosse’ was cute, along with the shell shape of them. Students had fun creating their own design on top of the millefeuille.
