The Southland Secondary School Netball Championships were held at Stadium Southland recently, and this was a very successful day for Hargest netball.
Due to the large number of entries, the Senior A and B, and 10 A grades were split into pools, and they then played off for placings based on their pool results. The 10 A team had a very closely contested game against SGHS 10 A to determine the top of their pool. This was a great game which could have gone either way, SGHS just coming out on top. From there the team went on to finish a very creditable 4th overall, losing to CSC in their playoff.
Gold A and B had excellent tournaments, both teams going through unbeaten in both their pool and play off games to win their respective grades. This is a great achievement to claim both Senior titles so well done to both teams. Gold A took satisfaction from comprehensively beating Wakatipu in the final, after their close game at the interschool earlier that week.
The 9 A grade had fewer entries so it was played in a round robin format. The Hargest 9 A team had a great day, going through the tournament unbeaten to claim the title.
