American Exchange trip

Imagine going to America and visiting FOUR theme parks in one week!

Imagine walking the Hollywood walk of fame and going to Disneyland, California Adventure Park, Knott’s Berry Farm and Universal Studios.

We were lucky enough to experience this in one jam-packed and adventurous week in September this year.

After our first week in California we headed off for Tacoma, Washington for three amazing weeks with our host families. While in Tacoma we spent a lot of time learning about the history of the area and what makes it special and unique. We visited the Seattle Space Needle, which is like the Auckland Sky Tower, learnt all about wind pressure at iFly, even got to have a go at flying; visited schools and performed frequently for others who thought we were pretty amazing. We also got to explore the Seattle Underground, visit a replica pioneer and Native American village, go glass blowing, as well as hang out at Great Wolf Lodge (an indoor water park).

After one full on, action packed month in America, we sadly headed home. We definitely recommend the trip to any Year Sevens who are interested in exploring new places, meeting amazing new people and broadening their experiences. Thank you to all the parents who helped us prepare for this trip, our chaperones Julie Freeborn and Yvonne Cooper and our fantastic teachers, Miss Woods and Mrs Payne.
