This year we had 19 teams from the Senior Campus competing in the Saturday Netball Competition. Thirteen successful teams secured semi-final play offs and five teams progressed through to Finals.

Our best results were:

Open Grade: 9A who not only won Second Grade B but they also secured the Thurlow Cup having the least number of goals scored against them in their grade all season. 10A was awarded the second grade B runner up cup.

Secondary school grade (SSG): 9 Opal won the SSG6 winner’s trophy over runners up 9 Ruby. 10 Emerald did very well to make the finals and achieve the SSG5 runner up trophy.

The Gold A team travelled to Christchurch for the Annual South Island Secondary Schools’ Netball Tournament (SISSNT). The team only lost one game in their opening pool, placing them second. The team continued to win in the following two days to play off for 5th– 8th. In the first game of the final day the team played a hard game against Buller High School. The score was tied at full time and after a long hard fight into extra time they were defeated and were placed 8th. Farewell to the Year 13’s Sarah Boniface, Taylor O’Connor and Shannon Michelle and thanks for their hard work in the mid–court, Captain Hollie Findlay who has been an asset on defence and Ruby Cleaver who has been a strength within the goal circle and paired with Katie Quinn made a dynamic due. All the best to you all as you move forward in life and thank you for your positive contribution to Hargest Netball.

10A and 9A attended the SISS Junior Tournament in Christchurch. Though 9A was unable to compete in the chosen 9A grade, they did achieve 5th place out of 20 teams in the combined grade. Both teams displayed amazing team spirit and played fantastic netball giving it their best.

Other notable achievements:

Gold B placed first in the Wednesday night Netball South Secondary Schools’ League for their respective Grades.
