TOUCH 2026

In Term 1 our school camps leave teams struggling for numbers on competition night so instead of entering the Invercargill competition we decided the best option for our students for Term 1 only would be to promote the sport on site at Junior Campus. 

Our aim is to develop players skills in a positive environment to ensure they have fun and make new friends.

Our students will be placed in a team where they will learn skills and have team coaching followed by a competition. 

Touch will run for 6 weeks.  There is no cost involved with playing Touch in this Term 1 competition.

DAY & TIME: Wednesday 3.30pm- 4.30pm

 Skills and Team Coaching – 3.30pm – 4pm

 Competition – 4pm – 4.30pm

Summer Touch is the biggest participation team sport in New Zealand!

Touch Southland is Invercargill’s biggest Touch competition provider.

Invercargill Secondary School Module

Venue:  Turnbull Thomson Park, Lindisfarne Street, Invercargill

Games will be played between 4pm and 6pm on Thursdays

Students will wear their James Hargest PE uniform when playing. Games will only be cancelled due to bad weather or if the Council closes the grounds.  The draw and cancellations can be checked at the Touch Southland website: www.touchsouthland.co.nz.

ON THE NIGHT OF COMPETITIONS WE NEED PARENTS SUPPORT WITH THE MANAGING AND REFEREEING OF GAMES. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS IF YOU ARE ABLE AND YOU HAVE TIME AS IF WE DON’T GET ENOUGH HELP THEN THIS MAY HAVE AN IMPACT ON HOW MANY TEAMS WE CAN  ENTER INTO THIS COMPETITION.  

Grades: Boys & Girls only in Year 7/8

Fees: $30 per player

(This fee covers the cost of registration, a team ball and a contribution towards a small gift for the coach/manager (if applicable).

TAG TOUCH 2025

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT FOR US TO PUT TEAMS INTO THE COMPETITION.  EVERY TEAM MUST HAVE SOMEONE AVAILABLE TO REFEREE FROM WEEK TO WEEK (this could be a parent/caregiver or an older sibling).  Speak with Mr Dallow if you have concerns around refereeing.  You can not register your team unless you have someone prepared to take the whistle.

Please register all players that will be in your team on the permission slip.  Everyone must complete a registration form.  For those students that want to play and don’t have a team organised to play for please see Mr Dallow in Room 13 or Mrs Smith at the Sports Office and we will place you into a team.

Indoor Girls & Boys 4 aside Tag-Touch is an opportunity for girls & boys wishing to play Touch in a modified indoor format.  It is a game of touch played on a netball/basketball court with four players per side.  The rationale behind single gender teams  is to provide young females & males players with the confidence to play with an oval ball with their peers in a smaller, modified format, with more touches of the ball, more involvement, and more tries. Players wear a belt with two tags on their hips.  All the same, rules apply as per a game of touch, except instead of a touch being made on the player in possession, the defender must rip off one of the attacking player’s tags. The attacking player needs to plant the ball and step over it where the tag is made

No Mixed teams will be allowed

Touch Tag is back with a six week competition in Term 3 for schools across Invercargill.

Details:

• When: Tuesdays, 3:30 – 6:00pm
  Dates: July 29, August 5, 12, 26, September 2, 9. (Not on August 19^th due to Polyfest)
• Where: ILT Stadium Southland
• Cost: Free for Year 4s. $25 per player Year 5-10

Grades (no mixed teams):

• Girls: Year 4, Year 5&6, Year 7&8, Year 9&10
• Boys: Year 4, Year 5&6, Year 7&8

Format:

• 4 players on court (5–6 per team for rolling subs if desired)
• Games are 2 x 13-minute halves with a 2-minute halftime

Where –

• ILT Stadium Southland (Tuesday)

Who –

• Females & Boys across Invercargill, Western, Central & Eastern Southland
•  NO Mixed teams
• ALL games are to be played with four per side on the court at one time. Teams can have 5 or 6 players to have a couple of rolling subs.
• Game duration will be 2x 13minute halves with 2 minutes for halftime
• Touch Southland would set the courts up with cones, have a hooter and provide match balls, belts, and tags, and do a draw each week.
• Schools with our assistance where needed can help organise the children into teams
• Each coach to referee a half of each game
