Mouths dropped as 10CENG entered their English classroom on Friday 5 September 2025, for a special session designed by their student teacher, Ms McAllister. The lesson focus was on descriptive writing and they were honing in on the connotations of words. The room was set as a restaurant with tablecloths, vases of flowers, flickering (LED) candles and soft dulcet musical accompaniment which even inspired one student to get down on one knee! The students were encouraged to create their own restaurant, with a name and description, develop a menu with written depictions of the food, and building towards a review focussing on the language used to describe the food and restaurant’s atmosphere and service. Thanks Ms McAllister – it was a lovely way to end the week.
