The Past Beneath Our Feet!

Junior Campus had an epic week recently, with all of our classes making their way into the Invercargill CBD to learn more about the Past Beneath Our Feet!
We had a great time at Miharo, learning all about Te Rau Aroha Marae and looking at how we could share our personal histories through traditional designs. Our walking tour through the CBD took us past some key places from Invercargill’s history and gave us a chance to look at how they’ve changed over time. At He Waka Tuia we learned about how the stories of our place are collected through art collections, and created some art of our own. Invercargill Library created an awesome scavenger hunt for us where we learned about street names and had a dive into the archives. Finally, we were up the top floor of The Langlands to get a birds-eye view of our city and do some History Detectives mahi with Senga White.
We had an awesome time out and about and are looking forward to continuing to learn more about the history of our city this term!
