 Junior High Basketball Spring League

Basketball Term 4

Games are played on a Friday at Stadium Southland. The competition starts on 25 October and runs for approximately six weeks.

Game times vary between 4.00pm and 7.00pm and the duration of play is 40 minutes. Each team will be asked to do duty for the game in which they play. For this, we ask a parent or caregiver to support us on the score bench.

Students are to wear their James Hargest College PE uniform. Mouth guards are compulsory for all players. Teams will be announced once we have a final confirmation of numbers. We will endeavor to place all students in teams. We do require a parent to help out with each team in the role of coach.

There will be a cost of $48.00 per player to cover association fees, court costs, referees.

The draw will be placed on the sports office and Google Classroom each week. It will also be placed on the Southland Basketball website (www.basketballsouthland.co.nz).

No trials will be held this time, due to time constraints. 

BBNZ Levy 

If your child didn’t play in term 1 then there is a small $5 BBNZ Levy that is payable to BBNZ upon registration to GameDay. Once your child is in a team you will receive a code to register your child to the BBNZ GameDay system. This is one off payment each year. More information will be given about this when teams are arranged.

For this league we do NOT have senior students to assist in coaching. For each team we need a parent to coach. A coaching meeting will be set before the league begins to go over the basic rules and tips for the players. If we do not have enough help from parents we may not be able to register your son or daughter in a team.

Registrations close Wednesday 10 September.

The draw will be placed on the sports office noticeboard and Google Classroom each week. It will be on the Southland basketball website.

(Competition will run for 6 weeks )

Games are played on Friday night and times vary between 4.00pm and 7.00pm and the duration of play is 40 minutes.

Each team will be asked to do duty for the game in which they play.

For this, we ask a parent or caregiver to support us by either marking the scoresheet or controlling the clock.

Students are to wear their James Hargest College PE shorts and will be issued with a playing singlet.

Mouth guards are compulsory for all players.

Teams will be announced once trials are over and we have final confirmation of numbers.
