Exploring Te Ao Haka
E ngā kaihaka e kaingākau ana ki te Mahi a te Rēhia, te Haka ā Tāne Rore, nei au e mihi ana ki a koutou. Perform and learn more about the actions, language, stories, and tikanga weaved into various waiata and haka. A primary focus is to develop mana in performance and increase knowledge and understanding of Māori Performing Arts. There will be opportunities for the students to participate in community events, building community rapport and developing confidence.
Dance – Let’s Move
In Year 9 Dance, students will explore the world of movement and creativity. This one semester course focuses on building strong foundations in safe dance practices, choreography, performance, understanding and talking about dance. Students will perform a range of dance genres and styles, learn to apply the Dance Elements to their own choreography, research, reflect and interpret different dance choreographers and their works to develop an understanding of how dance communicates meaning. Designed for students of all experience levels, this course encourages both beginners with a love of dance and experienced dancers to develop their skills and confidence.
